Wing is an unusually large north Buckinghamshire parish of 5,700 acres and includes the hamlets of Ascott, Burcott, Crafton and Littlecote. Its Saxon church may have played a role in the conversion of the area to Christianity.
All Saints, is by any standards, a large, imposing church. Given that its dimensions have hardly changed since Saxon times, the original builder must have been extremely zealous and ambitious. From the outside, it is the unusual seven-sided chancel which appears to be the oldest part of the building. each side is defined by thin pilasters linked by semi-circular blind arches, a typically Saxon decoration. Above this feature are the remains of triangular blind arcading, pierced by two original round-headed windows, which have since been blocked up. At ground level on three sides are round-headed window openings lighting the crypt. The larger windows in the same three sides are in the 'perpendicular' style and were inserted in the 15th century to provide more light to the chancel.
