WREN has been operating in North Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes for three years. WREN is a 'not for profit' environmental body set up in 1997 to distribute the Landfill Tax Credits of the Waste Recycling Group (WRG). Nationally WREN has funded well over 4,000 community projects in the past ten years and awarded grants totalling over £100 million.
Operations are centred around the two large Waste Recycling Group (WRG) landfill sites at Bletchley/Newton Longville and Calvert. Each year WRG receives, recycles and disposes of 13 million tonnes of household and commercial/industrial waste. WRG also generates energy from waste and contributes significantly to the Government's efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
